Challenge 3: Let's Get Serious

So....

I have not posted a post in months. Months. So here's a bunch of work to make up for it! From here on, this blog is also going to be Mathletic Adventures, my original idea.

Choice 1: Language Arts - For this assignment, you will be reading the Prologue of my favorite book by my favorite author; A Mango Shaped Space by Wendy Mass. Below is the link to a PDF file. It also shows the first chapter, so I am trusting you to not peak ahead. After you are finished reading, research what Mia has that makes her different (Yes, it is a real thing). Write a paragraph about what she has and your perspective on it.

Physical Education - The TV Commercial Workout! No skipping over ads! That's cheating!
                                          I'm gonna try this!

Math: Go to www.khanacademy.com and without logging in, click on the subjects button. Go to Math and choose the topic you feel most comfortable with. I expect you to watch at least one video lesson and take one of the quizzes. Then, comment what percentage you got on your quiz.

Have fun,

Assignment Two: The Second One

Dear Adventurers,

I am so sorry I didn't write for a while! I was pretty busy with life and all, but I have managed to create a second assignment. I completely forgot to tell you how you get points for assignments and extra credit! For all assignments, please ask for access in the comments. Then, I will invite you to the event online at Google+. It is called the Lanletic Adventures Grade Book and runs until 11:30 PM on December 31st. I will be posting all assignments on there as well as on here from now on. You will have access to post, but not invite others. Please use this advantage to post your assignments and suggestions and I will post your grades in the comments. If you earn a grade lower than a C, I will privately message you your grade. On January 1, 2015, I will create a post on both this blog and Google+ with all of your grades and a prize for the person with the highest grades. Towards the end of every month, I will submit a bunch of extra credit opportunities to bump up your score, a contest or two with prizes for the winners, and a grand prize for the person with the highest grades for the month. The first person to comment for access will also win a prize and recognition on the Google+ event.

Your assignment for physical education is to try something different. It can be a food, drink, exercise, or activity that gets you moving. Please record a video, write a summary, or take pictures of you eating, drinking, or taking part in that activity, so you can post it on Google+. If you do the summary, that will count as your Language Arts assignment.

If you did not choose the summary, you still have Language Arts to do. This will be writing a summary on the short story, The Yellow Wallpaper. It can be found at eastoftheweb.com, like the last assignment.

For extra credit, you can write both summaries! This week is all about summarizing, something that can be challenging for even the chubbiest of unicorns.

Sincerely,

Becoming a Lanletic Adventurer

What is a Lanletic Adventurer?
A Lanletic Adventurer is a person who performs in two subjects more than ever - Language Arts and Physical Education. They know how to do awesome Language Arts things and stay fit at the same time.

Why does this matter to me?
If you are asking this question, you probably already have a reason. You don't like one of the two or both and that means you probably aren't too good at them either. The best way to get better at something is to practice and this is what this website will help you with.

How will this website help me at all?
Whether it's healthy recipes to worksheets, flashcards to exercises, this blog will get you and your brain moving. Everything posted here will help you and nothing here will judge or criticize you.

Do I have to?
No, of course you don't! I won't force you to do anything or even suggest you use this. I  hope you do check out this website because it could help you, but if this blog doesn't please you, go ahead! You definitely shouldn't be forced to do anything.

I love Six Sisters who have tons of recipes. They are mostly healthy and sound delicious. I find many ideas on Pinterest and have boards for many different topics. Please join my dorky blog and have some fun!

Lanletic Adventures: The First One

Okay, so I know the title of this post is absolutely ridiculous. It's a bit like the title of the Sharknado movie, Sharknado 2: The Second One. I seriously have no idea whatsoever of what I'm doing. I am just hoping that I'm not telling you anything stupid.

See the thing is, I am only writing this post because I want to help somebody. That somebody, and this is going to sound cheesy, is YOU. YOU are the person I want to feel awesome inside. YOU are the person that should have warrior butterflies bursting out of your chest, slapping that doughnut from your hand, and waving a magic wand that makes abs grow on your stomach. YOU are the person who should eat a whole cake and feel confident in your choices. YOU are the one who should be able to travel back in time and correct William Shakespeare's grammar. YOU are the one who should be able to go the grocery store, see two boxes of crackers, different brands, prices, and contents, and think, "Well, Ritz are $2.00 per box and hold 5 pouches but, these similar Circle Saltines are only $1.00 per pouch. I'll just buy the granola bars that have less fat and calories and take them to the gym, my next stop!" (and ignore the fact that getting the plain Ritz crackers would be a much better deal). YOU are the main purpose of this blog, the one and only reader who will feel your feelings and your situations. You are the only person who can choose who you are going to be.

Now, enough with the cheddar. We are going to start our first challenges. Our first  physical education challenge is quite simple but, does mean a lot. Choose one exercise that you enjoy. Now, you must do 5 reps of that exercise every time you hear a whistle (a physical whistle) blow. This is going to be challenging because of football season going on but, I believe in you. Just remember, if you were a unicorn, you wouldn't want to be chubby, would you? Chubby unicorns aren't fun, believe me, and you can put a stop to having depressing unicorns at your salad parties! All you have to do is take that chubby unicorn to a treadmill, get it walking, give it support, and watch as it grows into a majestic, healthy, amazing creature, a creature who has strength, power, and confidence in itself. Then, you'll realize that YOU are this unicorn. YOU are the person who has left the nacho bar and run to the gym, even after it was closed, and still went inside. YOU are the one who has walked up to the guards and realized you can't break the rules, so you buy your own treadmill. YOU are the one who is probably not going to any of this but, that's okay. I haven't either. :(

The second challenge is for Language Arts, my favorite subject. This challenge is going to have to do with grammar. Your challenge is to find a handwritten paper. A letter or an essay will work very well. Take this paper and correct it. You don't have to use a red pen or anything, just make the marks. If there are spelling mistakes, fix those. If you can't find any mistakes, find a new paper to correct. This exercise will help you learn the difference between to, two, and too and help you put a comma before but.

EXTRA CREDIT: I just finished reading a short story that is absolutely wonderful. It is quite short, being only about two and a half pages, but is a very smart idea. It is called, "The Time-Sweepers" an is by Ursula Wills-Jones. Your extra credit challenge is to either go onto www.eastoftheweb.com, click on short stories, and find "The Time Sweepers"; go to www.short-stories.co.uk and find "Time Sweepers", or search for "The Time Sweepers" by Ursula Wills-Jones and click on the result that leads you to www.eastoftheweb.com. Next, read the story and post a summary of it in this post's comments section.

Make sure to follow my other blogs on Blogger and have a great day!
